Help us build and sustain one of the best schools in Queens.

What we are trying to do -- day in and day out -- for the students of Northwest Queens is the most challenging, most rewarding work there is. Our school is nestled in the most diverse part of the World's Borough and aims to support the dreams of the 360 families who have entrusted us with the privilege of educating their children.

We aim to rebuild the bridge between elementary school and high school, where students historically falter on their path toward postsecondary success. Three-quarters of our students enter our doors in fifth grade at least one grade below grade level but are brimming with the academic potential and the eagerness to learn and grow. We invest in the fundamentals -- literacy and math -- while imbuing a strong sense of community, self-worth, and intrinsic motivation for each diverse learner in our school.

Our team is mission-oriented and scrappy, and we pursue our goal of helping students becoming the best versions of themselves, without apology. Walking through our halls, you hear nothing but productive noise; discussion, theater, debate, and music reverberate throughout our building from 7:40 to 4:10pm.

Early results suggest that we are on the right track. In our third year of operation, we were honored as a New York State Recognition School, a title reserved for the top 13% of all public schools in the state for their absolute performance and demographic-specific student growth. Our 6th graders outperformed pretty much everyone in Queens in Math. We are humbled to be doing this work, and we are just getting started.

We have a saying to close out our daily team huddle: "Up from here." We know that the only place for us - our school, our students, our community -- is up. This work is too challenging and too ambitious to do alone. Our initial positive results only made us more eager to improve. We hope to have you join us on the years-long journey to build and sustain one of the best public charter schools in Queens, in New York City, in our country.
